This is a “gizmo” we designed and fabricated to allow a rear fender of a bicycle to be broken into two pieces in order to be “Rinkoized” which is needed to take a bike on a train in Japan. It also makes it possible to easily transport a bike in a small car. Previously this “slip joint” was made from a piece of fender. The problem with that method is that aluminum doesn’t like to slide on itself, bronze does. The devise also is designed to allow being manipulated to exactly follow multiple radiuses resulting in a perfect fender line.
